Tehran (IP)- Iranian Petroleum Minister visited Caracas with the aim of "strengthening relations in the field of energy".

Iran PressIran News: During the trip, Javad Owji will visit the facilities of the Venezuelan State oil company or Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), and consult with the officials of the country. Iran's minister will also meet with Pedro Rafael Tellechea, the oil minister of Venezuela and the head of the state oil company PDVSA. 

Iranian minister will visit the El Palito refinery on Venezuela's north-central coast. El Palito is located in central Venezuela.

The NIORDC signed a $116 million contract with Venezuelan state oil firm PDVSA in May 2022, to repair and expand the refinery.

Tehran has strengthened ties with Caracas in recent years, providing crude and raw materials for Venezuela's aging refining network, as well as overseeing a project to modernize the largest refining complex in the country.

Iran and Venezuela, the two nations hit by illegal U.S. sanctions, signed a document of comprehensive 20-year strategic cooperation during President Nicolas Maduro’s visit to Tehran in June 2022.
