Iran Press/Iran news: In an exclusive interview with Iran Press, the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Spokesman Behrouz Kamalvandi said, "Fordow nuclear facility is very important to produce 20 percent enriched uranium for Iran's nuclear cycle."
"The facility is a secure and fortified place for enrichment and of course, we have accepted not to bring any nuclear materials or not to do any nuclear activity for fifteen years but what we are doing here is not something more than enriching uranium for peaceful purposes," Kamalvandi underlined.
"There is, of course, US and Israel propaganda, claiming Iran is going after a nuclear bomb. Unfortunately, this is what they are seeking themselves. Iran has already said, ideologically and strategically we do not need to even think about nuclear bombs or other weapons of mass destruction," Kamalvandi stated.
The Spokesman added: "As the Leader of the Islamic revolution says and stresses in his Fatwa (or religious edict), it is against our ideology to produce, stockpile or use any kind of weapon of mass destruction, what we have started in Fordow is very important regarding the enrichment capacity which was 8600 SWUs and now it is going up around 9400, 9500. So it has reached, more or less, the same level of uranium enrichment that we had before the JCPOA was signed."
He reiterated, "The reason for taking the fourth step is to encourage other signatories to honour their commitments, to bring them (signatories) back to the reality that they have to get back to the former balance of rights and commitments signed by both sides. So they should not expect us to be the only side committed to its obligations under the JCPOA. They must fulfill their commitments too."
