The ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Iraq, rejected claims regarding Tehran's intervention in Baghdad's affairs and described it as a media controversy.

Iran PressMiddle East: Mohammad Kazem Al-Sadegh, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Iraq, on Tuesday night, he said: "The statements made about Iran's interfernce in Iraqi politics and the appointment of personalities are nothing more than propagnada, controversy and media hype."

Al-Sadegh added: "Iraqis, by reaching this level of maturity and political experience, are able to shape their own destiny."

Mohammad Kazem Al-Sadegh praised Iraq's Prime Minister Mohammad Shia al-Sudani and said that he has a clear political plan to manage Iraq.

He called Iraqi PM's foreign policy balanced and said that this policy has played an important role in bringing closer the views between Iran and the countries of the region.

Stating that Iraq and Iran have religious, cultural and historical ties, Al-Sadegh added: "There are relations and affection between the two countries and these relations are developing."

Iran's ambassador noted that the volume of trade between Iraq and Iran reached 12 billion dollars last year, adding, "We are looking to balance trade with Baghdad."

In another part of his speech, Al-Sadegh addressed the issue of separatist terrorist groups based in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and emphasized that Iran has formed a committee with the Iraqi Kurdistan Region to control the borders and disarm these terrorists. 219
