Moscow (IP) - Iran and Russia agree on cooperation in cyber issues and virtual space and fight against terrorism and drug trafficking.

Iran PressEurope: The Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Law Enforcement Command (Iran's Police) announced an agreement with Russia on the development of cooperation in cyber and virtual space issues, the fight against terrorism and drug trafficking, comprehensive cooperation at the borders.

At the end of his three-day trip to Moscow, Brigadier-General Ahmedreza Radan on Thursday evening stated that the development of cooperation between friendly and aligned countries will have a positive impact on bilateral or multilateral policing and security measures. He called the security and law enforcement cooperation between Tehran and Moscow expanding due to the level of strategic relations between the two countries.

Referring to some similarities between the police and security structures of Iran and Russia, Brigadier-General Radan said: "The duties and missions of the Iranian police are defined in one ministry and several organizations of the Russian Federation, such as the Ministry of Interior, the National Guard, and the Ministry of intelligence."

Talking about the signing of the memorandum of cooperation with the Russian National Guard, he added: "This memorandum was signed in a bid to develop bilateral cooperation in the field of education, as well as exchanging technology and experiences and taking advantage of each other's capabilities in carrying out missions."

Commenting on Tehran-Moscow cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking, Brigadier-General Radan said: "Iran is one of the most unique countries in the fight against drugs, and in this field, it has experience, practice and action, which is a partner in negotiations with Russia. Russia acknowledged this issue and requested cooperation with Iran in this regard."

The police chief of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who traveled to Moscow on Tuesday at the official invitation of the Russian National Guard, returned to Iran on Thursday evening.
