Tehran (IP) - Emphasizing the serious pursuit of the issue of Iran's water share from Afghanistan, the Iranian President ordered that other available solutions for providing drinking and agricultural water to the people of Sistan and Baluchistan province should be prioritized by the relevant ministries.

Iran PressIran News: Speaking in the meeting of the Council of Ministers on Wednesday morning, Ebrahim Raisi assigned the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Energy to follow up on Iran's water share from the Hirmand River and said: "The government will not hesitate to pursue the rights of the nation in any way."

Raisi also tasked the relevant ministries to seriously pursue other ways of providing drinking and agricultural water for the people of Sistan and Baluchistan province, including by digging deep wells and assigning special rigs, and to implement the necessary measures as soon as possible.

Referring to his yesterday's meeting with Friday prayer leaders from across the country, the President announced efficiency as the most important indicator in the appointment of national, provincial, and local officials and said: "The managers of this government must be efficient, revolutionary and transformational, and if they are not, the goals that have been set will not be achieved."

Raisi called the selection of efficient officials a right and said, "People are the main owners of the system and the Revolution and all the officials are responsible to serve them, and we should not fail to fulfil their rights under any circumstances."

The President sincerely thanked the people for continuing cooperation in household electricity consumption and said: "Thank God, with the good cooperation of the people and the effective management of the Ministry of Energy, we have not had a problem with power outages this year, but due to the lack of energy production infrastructure, controlling electricity consumption is still an important priority in the country."

Criticizing the neglect of some institutions in selling surplus property and stating that selling such property is a legal obligation, Ayatollah Raisi obliged the ministers to implement this legal duty seriously and in accordance with what is stipulated in the law.

Raisi pointed out that the contradiction in some statistics announced by government agencies confuses public opinion and said, "The Statistics Centre is responsible for providing accurate statistics in the country. Only these statistic should be the basis of policies and decision-making in the country, and other institutions should also rely on it".

The Iranian President added: "Such undocumented statistics create problems even in internal decision-making, so any institution that wants to announce statistics must coordinate with the Statistics Centre."In another part of this meeting, a report on the readiness of the private sector and cooperatives to help the government was presented, for which the President appreciated.

Referring to this declaration of readiness, Raisi noted: "These two departments are ready to cooperate with the government with their vast capacities and facilities, and the managers of the institutions should take advantage of this willingness to cooperate in the year when the focus of its naming is production, and production should increase in both quality and quantity."

In today's meeting of the cabinet, reports were presented on the proper status of basic goods reserves and the plan to increase rainfed production and fishery products.

The beginning of water transfer to Lake Urmia was one of the other issues discussed in the meeting of the Council of Ministers. Related officials in the government hope that with this action, the restoration of Lake Urmia will gain tangible momentum.
