Why it matters:
Following the continuation of Israel’s attacks on Gaza and the killing of Palestinian children, the Yemeni army has declared its support for the Palestinians and has launched attacks on Israeli airports and infrastructure.
The bigger picture:
Yemeni forces’ attacks on ships carrying goods to the occupied territories and attacks on its airports, including Ben Gurion Airport, have so far caused challenges for Israel. At the same time, Israel’s retaliatory attacks on Yemen have so far failed to disrupt Yemenis’ support for Palestine.
What they're saying:
- Yemeni media reported that four airstrikes targeted the runway of Sanaa airport and a Yemeni plane.
- Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz also announced that the regime's air force targeted positions of the Yemeni Ansarullah movement at Sanaa airport and targeted the last aircraft in the airport.
- The aircraft that was attacked belonged to a Yemeni airline.
Go deeper:
In response to the Israeli aggression and support for the people of Gaza, the Yemeni army has repeatedly targeted the depths of the occupied territories with its attacks by firing missiles and sending attack drones. This has led to an air blockade by the Israeli regime, disrupting the work of Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, and the daily escape of Zionists to shelters.
