Iran Press/ Iran news: Hossein Amir-Abdollahian is in Baghdad in response to the invitation of his Iraqi counterpart, Fuad Hussein, in order to meet and talk with the Iraqi authorities.
Speaking in an interview, he told reporters that he had discussed the issue of border security with Iraqi officials.
"It is not acceptable for Tehran that terrorist and separatist groups based in the northern region of Iraq pose a threat to the security of the Islamic Republic of Iran," the Iranian foreign minister noted.
As he said, the Iraqi officials had clearly stated that Baghdad would not allow the terrorist outfit to threaten Iran's territorial integrity.
Amir-Abdollahian had earlier met with the chairman of the Popular Mobilization Committee in the Iraqi government Falih al-Fayyadh and the head of the State of Law Coalition Nouri al-Maliki on Wednesday.
In the meeting with al-Fayyadh, the Iranian foreign minister pointed out that Iran considers the stability and security of Iraq as its own and appreciated the efforts of PMU forces in fighting against ISIS and restoring Iraq's stability and security.
Al-Fayyadh, for his part, underlined the necessity of maintaining security cooperation between the Iraqi government and the Islamic Republic.
He also hailed the constant assistance of Iran in establishing stability in the borders and the region.
In the meeting with Nouri Al-Maliki, Amir-Abdollahian also stated that the development and stability in Iraq are Iran's demand.
Explaining the latest political situation in Iraq, Al-Maliki noted that expanding all-out ties with Iran is the top agenda of Iraq's foreign policy.
