Tehran (IP)- Iran's foreign minister underlined the necessity of expanding cooperation in various fields, with Tajikistan, particularly in trade and economic spheres.

Iran PressIran News: In a meeting with the Iranian Ambassador to Tajikistan, Mohammad Taghi Saberi, on the eve of the Tajik president's visit to Tehran, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian also stressed the significance of the Islamic Republic of Iran's ties with the Republic of Tajikistan, especially given their cultural and linguistic commonalities.

The ambassador also reported on the latest developments in bilateral ties between Iran and Tajikistan and on the significant growth in bilateral economic and trade cooperation, and finalized memoranda of understanding that awaited approval by the two presidents during their meeting on Sunday.

In the meeting, the two sides reviewed the details and content of Tajik President Emamali Rahmon's visit to Tehran.

In a relevant story, Mozaffar Hosseinzadeh, Tajikistan's Deputy Foreign Minister, met with Iran's FM.

Amir Abdollahian expressed pleasure at the Tajik president's visit to Tehran and described it as highly important for expanding bilateral ties. He reiterated that the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Tajikistan have many historical, civilizational, cultural, and linguistic commonalities. This huge potential will pave the way for the further expansion of ties between the two brotherly friendly nations.

The Tajik deputy foreign minister also underlined the importance of bilateral ties in different areas and declared Tajikistan's readiness to develop further relations with Iran's Islamic Republic. The two officials also exchanged views over the latest issues in bilateral ties and the latest follow-ups and agreements during the Iranian president's visit to Tajikistan in 2021.
