Tehran (IP) - Iran's first Vice President says that there is yet to expand trade ties with Kazakhstan in order to bring it to 3 billion dollars.

Iran PressIran News: Kazakhstan's Prime Minister Ismailov arrived in Tehran on Wednesday afternoon and was officially welcomed by the Iranian first Vice President Mohammad Mokhber.

In a joint press conference with Kazakh Prime Minister Alikhan Ismailov on Wednesday, Mohammad Mokber said although the economic relations between the two countries have increased by 20%, it is not proportional to the political relations of the countries.

Mokhber told reporters that the agreements of cooperation between the two sides in different fields, including mining, industry, farming machinery, tourism, shipping, electricity, and oil.

Using regional capacities such as Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and quadrilateral agreements to strengthen transit between the region's countries were among the other agreements reached. 

Still, the activation of Iran and Kazakhstan's private sectors through facilitations in the two countries' banking, insurance, and domestic messengers as well as monetary treaties between the two sides were of other agreements. 

Ismailov, for his part, said that Kazakstan was ready to increase its exports to Iran up to $250 million, and would like to increase agricultural imports from Iran. 

Another area of cooperation, he said, is the expansion of transportation and transit corridors.

"We talked about increasing the transit of Kazakh goods through Iran, using the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran rail corridor, as well as applying uniform tariffs," the Kazak PM added.

The improvement of cooperation between Iran and Kazakhstan in oil, fishery, farming, and cultural fields also were among the ones mentioned by Ismailov.
