Iran Press/Iran news: In a message congratulating National Doctors Day to all doctors throughout the country, Iran's President Hassan Rouhani said: "This year's National Doctors Day is an opportunity to honor the heroes who sincerely defended the health of the dear people of this land; those who sacrificed their lives to save their kind and bravely stood in the middle of the field.”
"Undoubtedly, this year's Doctor's Day is different for Iranian society from previous years, and the ceremony for honoring the services of doctors has a different color and more reasons this year. In this global crisis, Iran and, beyond it, the whole world fully respects the sacrifices and devotions of doctors. Now more than ever, we remember that some occupations, beyond the choice of a profession, are difficult to take responsibility for, and taking responsibility is a clear picture of altruism and a style of courageous living," he added.
"I believe that the nation's historical memory will place these sacrifices on the level of the veterans of the homeland. If in the days of the Holy Defence (the 8-year Iraqi-imposed war against Iran), doctors were at the front line side by side with the warriors, this time the epic makers themselves became the front line. Iran will always be proud of such children who have made history."
Iran marks august 22 the birth anniversary of Abu Ali Sina, known in the West as Avicenna, as the National Doctors Day.
