Iran calls for UN intervention to save the lives of Yemeni civilians

The spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the United Nations to take the necessary measures to protect the health and safety of civilians, especially Yemeni women and children.

Iran Press/Iran News: Abbas Mousavi on Friday strongly condemned a new crime committed by Saudi-led coalition warplanes targeting a wedding ceremony in the Yemeni cities of Hajjah and Al-Jawf, killing and injuring more than 25 women and children.

Expressing his condolences to the survivors of the airstrikes, the official stated that unfortunately, the war crimes of the coalition forces in Yemen continue under the shelter of silence and indifference of the international community.

The spokesman called on the international community and human rights groups to prevent the continuation of these crimes by Saudi planes against Yemen in any way possible.

Mousavi stressed that the countries that support the invading forces in Yemen, which have caused the killing of Yemeni women and children by providing them with bombs and weapons of mass destruction, are complicit in these crimes and should be held accountable for their support to the international community and the Yemeni people.

Noting that these crimes continue while, unfortunately, the United Nations has recently removed Saudi Arabia from the list of child-killing regimes under US political pressure and Saudi petrodollars, the Iranian official called on the international community to reconsider its decision and its efforts to take immediate action to stop the attacks and to take the necessary measures to protect the health and safety of civilians, especially women and children.
