Tehran (IP) - Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi said the US neither can activate 'Snapback Mechanism' nor has the right to do so.

Iran Press/Iran News: Seyyed Abbas Mousavi in his weekly press conference on Monday morning in response to Iran Press' question on Washington's claim that it will activate 'Snapback Mechanism' by Europe’s cooperation if UN Security Council does not vote to extend Iran’s arms embargo, said, "The US neither can nor has the right to do so."

US claims that if anyone of the European parties to the deal believes Iran has violated the agreement, they can trigger a dispute resolution process that could, within as few as 65 days, end at the UN Security Council with a so-called Snapback of UN sanctions on Iran.

Mousavi said that it is better for the US, not to test what it has tested before and if that happens they will experience another failure.

He added that the US has violated the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), and is not in a position to claim such thing and then eliminates JCPOA’s achievements.

"We had negotiations with other members of the United Nations and they all have rejected such claim. We predict another failure for the US if they do so," Mousavi noted.
