During talks between the Iranian and Syrian delegations at the Syrian Ministry of Science in Damascus on Tuesday evening, the two sides stressed the need to strengthen and develop scientific cooperation between the two countries.

Iran PressMiddle East: According to the Syrian News Agency (SANA), the meeting was chaired by Syrian Minister of Science Basam Ebrahim and Hassan Danaeifar, Advisor to the First Vice President and Secretary of the Economic Development of Iran and Syria-Iraq, the prospects of cooperation in the field of awarding scholarships and holding courses in training, education and exchange programs for students and professors, as well as holding scientific conferences and establishing research centers and technology parks were examined.

During the meeting, the Syrian Minister of Science referred to the significant scientific relations between Tehran and Damascus and the scientific, cultural and research cooperation programs between the two countries.

Ebrahim said: "Iranian research and development centers in various fields, especially in the field of medicine, nanotechnology and stem cells have made significant progress."

Danaeifar, referring to the importance of promoting scientific and research relations between Iranian and Syrian universities, said: "Conditions require that efforts be doubled to achieve the best results in scientific projects."

The Iranian delegation also met with Interior trade Minister Talal al-Barazi to discuss consumer protection, economic cooperation, trade, and development strategies, as well as the latest news on Iran's executive projects in Syria.

During the meeting, the two sides stressed the needs of the two countries' markets, including food and consumer goods, and the need to establish a mechanism for exchanging goods and meeting the needs of the Syrian and Iranian peoples to counter US and its allies unilateral and inhuman sanctions.

The need to raise the level of economic cooperation and trade to a level as that of significant political relations between the two countries was also emphasized.
