Tehran (IP) - During the open session of parliament, Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mohammad Eslami said that the length of the country's highways has reached 18,485 kilometers, while at the beginning of the Islamic revolution, it was 35 kilometers.

Iran Press/Iran news: Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mohammad Eslami, in today's open session of the parliament, stated that the length of the country's freeways is 2470 km, saying, at the beginning of the Islamic revolution, the length of the country's freeways was 76 kilometers, and now the length of the country's highways has reached 18,485 kilometers, while at the beginning of the Islamic revolution, the figure was 35 kilometers. 

The Minister of Roads and Urban Development stressed that the total cargo transported by train at the beginning of the revolution was 7 million tons, which has now reached 47 million tons and the port capacity has increased from 19 million tons to 246 tons per year.

According to Eslami, sanctions did the most damage to our aviation sector, but with the development of the fleet, we have been able to keep 140 passenger planes active and transport 30 million passengers.
