Tehran (IP) - Reacting to new US sanctions against Iranian shipping companies and tankers, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman stressed that Iran will not give in to the sanctions and pressure."

Iran Press/Iran news: Recently, the United States expanded sanctions on Iran's shipping industry, blacklisting the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) and its Shanghai-based subsidiary, E-Sail Shipping Company Ltd, along with more than 100 ships and tankers.

Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi added that the US once sanctioned the entire Iranian nation and then, in the midst of these sanctions, sanctioned Iranian citizens or officials double.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman advised US officials to refrain from unilateral and illegal actions, although their sanctions are ineffective and have no international backing.

Stressing that unilateral and illegal US sanctions are more against their allies than against Tehran and global trade, Abbas Mousavi added: "The international community must prevent US unilateral and extraterritorial sanctions to extend to other countries." 212/101
