Iran ranks 2 as world's main date producer

Dates are a staple food throughout the Middle East; so that its history dates back to 7000 BC. Most of the fresh dates and palm trees belong to the Middle East, West Asia, and North Africa.
Egypt is known as a leading country in the world in the production and cultivation of dates. Each year, the country produces more than a million tons of dates. That's just over 17 percent of global date production and 3 percent of world exports. After Egypt, Iran ranks second with an annual production of more than 900,000 tons, accounting for almost 7.7 percent of total world exports.
