Media and Journalists are covering the massive turnout of Iranian voters in parliamentary elections

Tehran (IP) - Journalists and correspondents from international media organizations, satellite channels, and news agencies are in the Iranian capital Tehran broadcasting often live the details of the massive parliamentary elections currently underway in Iran.

Iran Press/Iran news: Journalists and correspondents from well-known international news agencies and news channels are covering the national parliamentary elections, beaming images of massive queues of voters waiting to cast their ballots in polling booths and stations up and down the Islamic Republic. Television channels such as China's Phoenix, France 24 and Aljazeera are covering the events in Iran live, conveying the message of the Iranian voters to the world at large.

The Iranian people, as the Leader of the Islamic Revolution has said, want to exercise their civil right, their right to vote, to contribute to the administration of the country, which is their right, by participating in the elections.

Polling stations in 207 constituencies across Iran opened at 8:00 am local time. After the polls close, counting will begin straight away. 

Nearly 58 million people are eligible to vote on preselected lists of candidates in Iran's 11th parliamentary election.

The Iranian Parliament, officially known as the Islamic Consultative Assembly, is a 290-seat legislative body with 207 constituencies. Its members are elected every four years, and former and current members can be re-elected.

On the other hand, the Assembly of Experts of the Leadership is a deliberative body of 88 theologians tasked with choosing the Leader of the Islamic Revolution. Members of the Assembly are elected every eight years.
