Meeting with President of the AFC, Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, Iran's first vise president, Eshagh Jahangiri hailed the efforts of FIFA for not allowing political issues to enter football. Jahangiri said all sports should be free from politics.

Iran Press/ Iran news: Iran’s First Vice-President Eshaqh Jahangiri appreciated the efforts made by the International Federation of Football Associations, saying FIFA plays its' constructive role in correlating the nations by avoiding political issues to enter into football according to IRNA.

“World and Asian football lovers will watch today’s game and I hope we will see an interesting and fair game, so that all the football lovers enjoy,” said Jahangiri in a meeting with President of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa.

By referring to the football match between Iran's Perspolis and Japanese Kashima Antlers to be held on Saturday evening, the Vice-President said that Iran has made every effort to be an effective member of AFC.

Jahangiri added: “the Iranian government has supported all the sports fields, especially football for both men and women, promoting football throughout the country."

Iran’s First Vice-President urged the Asian Football Confederation not to let political issues to affect football and to make more efforts to increase integrity between the Asian countries. 

Jahangiri hailed the AFC’s supports of Iran, urging the AFC president to smooth the way for Iranian representatives to be elected in the directing board of the Asian Football confederation and its' subsidiary committees. 

In October 05, Iran’s football legend, Ali Daei, has been chosen as best striker in the history of AFC Asian Cup by AFC website users.

Shaikh Salman, for his part, said that Iran’s football plays an important role on both Asian and world scales. “Iran’s football has shown shining performance in all categories, especially in 2018 World Cup.

He also referred to the AFC congress, which was held in the Malaysian city of Kuala Lumpur recently, stressing that it displayed the solidarity among the AFC members.

The Tehran football club Persepolis has gone through to the final of the AFC Champions League 2018, after an exciting 1-1 draw with Al-Sadd of Qatar.

Shaikh Salman is visiting Tehran to watch ACL finals which will be held Saturday evening between Iran’s Perspolis and the Japanese representative Kashima Antlers in the Tehran-based Azadi Stadium.

The second leg of the final is Nov. 10 at Azadi Stadium in Tehran and several hundred international delegates and guests are expected to attend the match in Tehran.
