Iran Press/Iran news: Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty had a phone conversation on Wednesday night to discuss regional developments, focusing on the situation in Syria.
Araghchi elaborated on the outcomes of his recent discussions with Syrian and Turkish officials during his visits to Damascus and Ankara, stressing the Islamic Republic of Iran's steadfast policy in supporting the Syrian government, army, and people in their fight against terrorist groups.
He also considered the resurgence of terrorist groups in Syria and their spread across the region as a serious threat to regional peace, stability, and security. He emphasized the necessity of continuing diplomatic efforts and consultations among influential regional actors to counter this threat.
Badr Abdelatty also highlighted his recent phone calls with the foreign ministers of several countries, emphasizing Egypt's policy of supporting Syria's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and legitimate institutions.
Both sides agreed to continue their contacts and consultations.
