Iran Press/ Asia: Iranian embassy in Japan in a tweet on Wednesday called on Japan to support UN Resolution No.2231 in the international community particularly World Health Organization (WHO) and not to join sanctions against Iran.
On May 8, 2018, the US President Donald Trump unilaterally withdrew from Iran’s international nuclear deal known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), violating Washington's commitments under the deal, announcing the return of nuclear sanctions on Iran.
Two years after the move, the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has now claimed that he has the right to use the trigger mechanism to extend Iran's arms embargo.
Russia, China, some European countries and Iran have stressed that the claim is a misunderstanding of the resolution, and the United States explicitly stated in May 2018 that it had ended its participation in the JCPOA.
