Iran Press/Iran News: Speaking at the Eurasian Economic Union summit on Tuesday, Hassan Rouhani said the World system is based on multilateralism and co-operation of all members of the international community.
Referring to Iran's nuclear agreement known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Rouhani added that implementation of the JCPOA represents success of multilateral diplomacy in resolving international disputes. The Islamic Republic expects the signatories of the nuclear agreement to honour their commitments and to fulfil their obligations.
He continued, "The policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran is to maintain peace and stability in the region, including in the Persian Gulf, and to ensure the freedom and security of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz."
Iran's president emphasized that the signing of the Trade Agreement between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union indicates Iran's comprehensive and constructive vision, coupled with the strong political will to help develop multilateral and regional economic-trade relations.
He added that implementing the agreement is seen as a step towards strengthening multilateral business structures.
"We hope that the Islamic Republic of Iran will benefit from the cooperation with friendly countries of the Russian Federation, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Belarus in crossing the current critical juncture and to see further economic and commercial relations develop alongside good political relations. Here again, I extend my hand to you and believe that together we will be able to showcase economic interactions within the Eurasian Economic Union as an efficient model for other regions of the world to follow," Rouhani concluded.
“Unfortunately, as a result of the destructive actions of the United States, we are witnessing a lot of problems in the economic ties among the countries today, growing poverty, insecurity, migration and slowing economic growth in the world, and the continuation of this tense environment will lead to irreparable damage," the president noted.
President Rouhani highlighted regional and collective cooperation in the form of economic, commercial and political unions such as the Eurasian Economic Union, the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) as the most important tools in regional economic-political integration, and stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran fully supports these organisations. 207/211/204
