Ghanaian Sunni scholar:

Accra (IP)- A prominent Ghanaian Sunni scholar said that Imam Hussain embodies Islamic teachings and a vast knowledge repository.

Iran PressAfrica: In an interview with Iran Press in Accra, Ghana, Sheikh Imam Kamil Abubakar emphasized that Imam Hussain's (AS) lesson resonates deeply within the hearts of humanity. He described Hazrat Imam Hussain as a pivotal figure in Islamic history due to the events surrounding his life and death.

According to Sheikh Kamil, Hazrat Imam Hussain, who resided in Mecca then, opposed Yazid's tyranny. He had the support of the people of Kufa, who desired him to be their chosen leader and Caliph. "Imam Hussain was informed that after the demise of Mawiya, his son Yazid was appointed as the Caliph of Muslims. It was expected that Yazid would represent and lead the Muslim community worldwide on behalf of Prophet Muhammad. However, Imam Hussein refused to follow Yazid because he believed he deserved to be the caliphate even after Mawiya's reign. Contrary to this belief, Mawiya appointed his own son Yazid," explained Sheikh Kamil.

"He was in Mecca when he received this news, and he also received a letter from the people of Kufa urging him to come and support them in their quest for rightful leadership," added he.

The scholar emphasized that no sound-minded Muslim would ever applaud what transpired during this tragic event. The cold-blooded killing of Rasulullah's beloved grandson remains a heart-wrenching tragedy for all Muslims.

"On his way to Kufa, Yazid was informed about his arrival and dispatched his troops to intercept him. Accompanied by approximately 70 followers, including some family members and loyal supporters, Imam Hussain (AS) faced a brutal attack resulting in the death of many and the imprisonment of others. All Muslims condemn this act of violence as a tragic event that goes against the principles of Islam.

Sheikh Imam Kamil emphasized the importance for every Muslim ummah to draw inspiration from the remarkable life of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS). According to him, Hazrat Imam Hussain's teachings are a vast ocean of knowledge, significantly influenced by his father, Imam Ali (AS), and his grandfather Prophet Muhammad. The close bond between Imam Hussain and Prophet Muhammad was evident as they would even sit together during salat. Muslims believe the teachings passed down directly from Prophet Muhammad hold immense significance in guiding their lives.

Imam Hussain's teachings serve as a fundamental pillar in the lives of all Muslims."
