Why it matters:
In recent weeks, Palestinian resistance operations have increased in frequency and intensity, leading to numerous casualties among Israeli forces. Palestinian resistance groups announced a series of coordinated and high-impact attacks targeting Israeli military positions across Khan Younis.
The big picture:
The al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, confirmed it shelled Israeli forces in the al-Satar area, north of Khan Younis, with heavy mortar fire and launched a salvo of Q20 rockets toward the settlements of Nir Yitzhak and Miftahim.
The al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, affiliated with the Islamic Jihad movement, reported shelling a concentration of Israeli soldiers and military vehicles in northern Khan Younis and announced the capture of an Israeli EVO MAX drone conducting aerial surveillance over the city.
Simultaneously, the al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of Islamic Jihad, claimed a direct hit on an Israeli command and control center near the Khadra Mosque with a 107-type rocket.
In another bold strike, al-Qassam fighters fired a Yassin 105 shell at an Israeli troop carrier on al-Mujamma al-Islami Street, setting the vehicle ablaze and prompting a helicopter evacuation of casualties.
At the same time, the al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades destroyed another Israeli military vehicle in al-Qarara using a powerful Asif 3 explosive device.
