Iran Press/Iran News: Iranian President Hassan Rouhani delivered a speech via video conference at the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) virtual summit in the Republic of Azerbaijan.
President Rouhani at the beginning of his speech thanked the President of Azerbaijan for arranging the summit and helping Iran to fight Coronavirus.
He also thanked all members of the movement who helped each other in the global fight against the international threat of COVID-19, noting, "Global experience has shown how a contagious disease can threaten all countries of the world regardless of nationality and endanger the health of every single person in the world.”
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani called on all countries to cooperate and assist in the fight against coronavirus, emphasizing that human beings are sufficiently exposed to major threats and it is the time that bilateral, multilateral and international cooperation to give way to threat, terrorism, pressure on nations in the form of economic terrorism and military threat to combat real and common threats.
Denouncing the anti-Iranian and anti-human rights actions of the United States, President Rouhani said, “with US anti-human rights measures, the provision of medical supplies needed by Iran has usually been longer and sometimes impossible, and Iran's targeted program to combat the spread of the virus has been challenged.”
The president also described weakening of the World Health Organization (WHO) similar to weakening of the global joint fight against Coronavirus, saying that the US government's unjustifiable, hasty and irresponsible move to deprive the World Health Organization of its financial resources should be considered as another US’ strategic mistake.
Rouhani emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to cooperate with all countries in the world to achieve a vaccine and definitive treatment of COVID-19 and welcomes any request for cooperation.
