Iran Press/Iran news: Esmail Baghaei, Spokesman of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in his weekly press conference answering Iran Press question said that the Islamic Republic of Iran at the international level with the help of global relevant communities will continue to pursue the rights of its injured veterans by German made chemical weapons.
In the 8-year war between Iran and Iraq, started by the Iraqi Baath regime in 1980 by Iraqi Baath regime dictator Saddam, western countries including Germany supplied the Iraqi Army with forbidden chemical agents, enabling the Iraqi Baath regime army to launch offensives with chemical agents against the Iranian forces on several occasions.
It should be remembered that at the time of the Iran-Iraq war, using of chemical weapons, the production, and supply of chemical agents were forbidden across the globe.
Iran continues to use the global and international arena to explain the pain of Iranian injured veterans by German-made chemical agents and introduce how many Iranians who engaged in defending the country were killed by chemical agents, Ismail Baghaei, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told Iran press.
Baghaei stressed that Iran will pursue the rights of victims of chemical weapons and Germany must be held accountable.
Germany was one of the main suppliers of chemical agents to the Iraqi Baath regime and we take serious measures in this regard, Baghei said, adding that people of the world should know the truth, it is necessary to achieve justice and this is the principle of human rights.
Baghaei said: At least on two occasions, one in the meetings of the UN Disarmament Conference, the Iranian Foreign Ministery in a letter to the German Foreign Ministry called a responsible court to investigate those involved in the delivery of chemical agents to the Iraqi Baath regime and we demanded to be informed on the results of those courts in Germany.
