The Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Abbas Araghchi stated that the purpose of his visit to Baghdad was to discuss and exchange views with the Iraqi authorities about regional developments and consultation and emphasized: "We do not want war and tension, but we are ready for any scenario."

Iran Press/ West Asia: Regarding any action of the Zionist regime to escalate tension in the region, the top diplomat said: "We do not want war and tension, but we are ready for any scenario."

Iran's Foreign Minister stated: "Nevertheless, our goal is to prevent any disaster with the help of regional countries."

Araghchi arrived at Baghdad International Airport Sunday afternoon as part of an official visit and was welcomed by Iraqi officials and the Iranian ambassador in Baghdad.

This trip was carried out in the framework of the series of regional trips of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran.

Araghchi had previously visited Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Lebanon to discuss issues and developments in the region with the officials of these countries.

Referring to the short visit of the Iranian Foreign Minister to Baghdad, the Iraqi media evaluated this trip as very important for diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions in the region.

Araghchi is supposed to head to Muscat, the capital of Oman.
