Iran Press/ Europe: "Diplomacy during the COVID-19 era, today I spoke by telephone with Iranian President Hojjat ul-Islam Hassan Rouhani," Simonetta Sommaruga tweeted.
"Given the 100th anniversary of Switzerland's diplomatic presence in Iran, we discussed bilateral affairs, pandemic and the conditions for humanitarian aid," Sommaruga said.
Iran's President Hassan Rouhani in a telephone consecration with his Swiss counterpart Simonetta Sommaruga stressed the need for speedy launching process of Swiss Financial Mechanism for trade with Iran.
Rouhani in the phone call with his Swiss counterpart said that the Swiss people have always had a respectable position in the eyes of the Iranian people. US illegal sanctions and increasing economic pressure have made things harder for the Iranian people.

Welcoming Switzerland's move to set up a financial mechanism, Rouhani stressed the need to make the financial mechanism more active, adding: "Creating this mechanism can be very effective in this difficult situation, and we expect this financial mechanism to become more active. So that Iran's financial resources in some countries would be operated through this route."
In another part of the conversation, the President stressed the importance of maintaining the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) as an international agreement, saying: "It is imperative that the European Union, especially the three European countries, take the necessary steps to balance the implementation of their obligations toward JCPOA. And Switzerland can help strengthen the 2015 nuclear deal's foundations."

Rouhani also highlighted the need to develop and deepen relations with Switzerland in the economic, scientific, and health fields, emphasizing the sharing of experiences in the field of combating coronavirus adding: "We are fully prepared to develop and deepen economic, scientific and health relations. With Switzerland and we hope that the two countries will continue their efforts for peace, stability, and humanitarianism."
Congratulating the government and people of Iran on Eid al-Fitr, the Swiss President Simonetta Sommaruga emphasized the development of relations with the Islamic Republic and welcomed the sharing of the two countries 'experiences in dealing with the coronavirus and pointed out to the need for cooperation between the two countries' health ministries.
"Switzerland will continue its efforts to make Swiss financial mechanism more active than Iran's," said Simonta Sumaruga, noting: "Iran's loan request from the International Monetary Fund to fight COVID-19 can be operationalized through this mechanism."
Expressing regret over the US withdrawal from the UN Security Council, the Swiss President stressed the need to maintain this international agreement and said: "We will do our best to maintain the JCPOA." 104/207
