Iran Press/Middle East: "The future government of Iraq will serve the people with action and not words," Mustafa al-Kadhimi, who has been appointed by the Iraqi President to form the Iraqi cabinet, said on Thursday night.
He added: "Weapons should be in the hands of the government only, not individuals and groups, and we will take action in this regard."
"We will work to diversify revenue sources and encourage the industrial and agricultural sectors," al-Kadhimi said.
He also noted that the success of Iraq's international relations will be based on respect and cooperation and that national sovereignty comes first.
"We will never allow any Iraqi to be insulted by domestic or international parties on charges of foreign dependence," he said.
The new Iraqi Prime Minister-designate said he would form a cabinet as soon as possible, adding that the cabinet would be at the forefront of defending Iraqis and confronting the coronavirus pandemic.
Al-Kadhimi also called the fight against corruption, a national duty and said: "Everyone is responsible for supporting the government and its success."
He said he would do his best to return refugees to their homeland.
Following the resignation of Adnan al-Zurufi from the Iraqi cabinet, President Barham Salih appointed Mustafa al-Kadhimi, head of the Iraqi security services, to form the cabinet.
Al-Kadhimi has a month to form his cabinet and ask parliament for a vote of confidence in his government.
Following the opposition of most Iraqi Shia groups, Adnan al-Zurufi resigned on Thursday. The reason announced for the opposition of these groups is his dependence on the United States.
