People gathered near the US Embassy in Lebanon's capital Beirut to protest against the US President's self-declared 'Deal of the Century' that faced international anger and rejection.

Iran Press/Middle East: Hundreds of Lebanese and Palestinians protested on Sunday near the US Embassy in Lebanon to denounce and reject the US 'Deal of the century”.

Palestinian flags were waved amid tight security by Lebanese security forces and riot policemen. Lebanon is home to tens of thousands of Palestinian refugees and their descendants.

Among the protesters, a number of students staged a sit-in protest outside the US Embassy in Awkar neighborhood amid strict security measures, Lebanon National News Agency reported on Sunday.

The number of demonstrators within the Embassy’s vicinity increased from the morning hours, and some of them managed to bypass the barbed wire and reach the iron door blocking the way to the Embassy amid tight security measures by the riot police squad.

Lebanon riot police used pepper-spraying materials that led to cases of fainting and suffocation among the demonstrators.

US President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday, January 28, his plan for ‘peace’ in the Middle East, denying the Palestinians all their historical and national rights.

Recognizing the city of Jerusalem al-Quds as the Zionist Regime capital, the annexation of another 30 percent of the occupied West Bank to Israel, ignoring the Palestinian right of return and complete disarmament of Palestinian resistance groups are included in the Trump's so-called 'Deal of the Century'.

The Israeli regime will also retain security control over the entire land of occupied Palestine. Trump's so-called 'Deal of the Century' also completely ignores the fundamental idea that Palestinians have the inalienable right to self-determination.

Among international objections, Arab League as a Pan-Arab bloc at the end of its meeting on Saturday rejects the US-Israeli 'deal of the century' considering that it does not meet the minimum rights and aspirations of Palestinian people and vowed not to cooperate with the US administration to implement this plan.
