Russia repels drone attack in Syria

Anti-air defenses shot down drones sent by terrorist organizations towards Hmaimim Airport in Lattakia countryside, Syrian official news agency SANA reported late on Sunday.

Iran Press/Middle East: Terrorists deployed three drones from their positions in Idleb and sent them in the direction of Hmaimim Airport which is controlled by Russian forces, according to a statement by the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Anti-air defenses shot them down, the news agency report and the statement said.

Syria and Russia have been cooperating in the Hmaimim Airport since September 2015 to fight back terrorists supported by the US and Saudi Arabia.

Russia is also running the Tartus naval base in the Lattakia Province after the US-backed terrorists intended to take over Syria through launching a civil war.
