Coverage of Arbaeen Trek

The head of the information and cyberspace of the Arba'een Headquarters stated that 700 media and outlets are covering the Arba'een Great March event.

Iran Press/ Middle East: The head of the information and cyberspace of the Arba'een Headquarters Mohammed Ali Anoush said: "This number includes 450 foreign media groups which 250 of them are Iraqis".

He added: "One thousand and 800 journalists and reporters have taken the burden of news coverage."

Mohammed Ali Anoush said: "These journalists and the media groups have covered the 1,500 kilometers of the main route for Arba'een Trek which have been begun from Basrah in south of Iraq on Muharram 28( Sep. 28) and now many of them are based in Karbala.

According to him, the number of media groups who have been covering the event this year is 8% more than last year.

Anoush said that about 65 Television Mobile Broadcast Vehicles and satellite transmitters in Iraq are also providing free services for the reporters.

Arba'een, which is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, comes 40 days after Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of the third Shia Imam, Imam Hussein (AS) every year in which a huge crowd of Shia flock into the Iraqi city of Karbala, where the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) is located, to perform mourning rituals.

This year the Arba'een pilgrimage has coincided on Saturday (October 19).
