At least one Turkish Consulate personnel is killed in an attack at a restaurant in Iraq's Erbil city.

Iran Press/Middle East: According to the Turkish foreign ministry, unknown gunmen opened fire at a restaurant where the diplomats were dinning.

Some media reports put the death toll at three. The deputy consul general of Turkey and two other diplomatic staff were killed in the attack, according to Reuters.

Security forces rushed to the scene and cordoned off the area.

In recent weeks, Turkey has been carrying out cross-border operations against the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in the Hakurk region of northern Iraq. 101/216
