Iran Press/Iran News: In a phone call to the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister for International Affairs Sergei Vershinin on Wednesday, Iranian Foreign Minister's Senior Assistant in Special Political Affairs, Alisaghar Khaji said the only way to solve the Yemen crisis passes through a political solution.
Also, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Seyed Abbas Mousavi on recent developments in southern Yemen said that the only way to stabilize Yemen is unity among various Yemeni groups. "The Islamic Republic of Iran supports a united Yemen by maintaining its territorial integrity," he said.
The UAE-backed South Yemeni Transitional Council announced an autonomous government in the southern provinces of Yemen on Sunday morning.
The council also announced that a state of emergency has been in place in the area since Saturday night.
