Tehran (IP) - The Governor of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) Abdolnaser Hemmati said on Wednesday that If the International Monetary Fund's impartiality is damaged, it will be difficult to repair.

Iran Press/Iran news: During a virtual meeting of the Ministers of Finance and the Chiefs of the Central Bank of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region,  Abdolnaser Hemmati addressed the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva and thanked the IMF for its efforts to fund countries affected by the coronavirus.

The Governor of the CBI pointed that Iran is one of the countries that has suffered the most in the MENA region, noting: "The Iranian nation expects the IMF to stand beside them and not to give weight to political calculations in response to the Islamic Republic's demands."

Emphasizing that the IMF is an independent and non-political international institution, Abdolnaser Hemmati stressed: "The head of the IMF is urged that Iran's RFI (Rapid Financing Facility) demand be immediately presented to the board and the board is allowed to make decisions about it."

Hemmati said that the resources obtained from RFI are used to finance the purchase of medicine and medical equipment by Iran, adding that INSTEX and SHTA are available tools that have monitoring and safety mechanisms in place to relieve any worries.

The CBI governor highlighted that the coronavirus is a global crisis, and no country is safe from it unless all countries are safe.
