Tehran (IP) - Iran's Foreign Minister in a telephone conversation with Croatian counterpart said that the European Union supports Iran in the fight against Corona and in removing financial barriers in this regard.

Iran Press/Iran news: Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Wednesday 25 March held a telephone conversation with his Croatian counterpart Gordan Grlić-Radman, whose country holds the rotating European Union presidency.

During the conversation, Zarif was informed about the latest decisions made in the meeting via video conferencing attended by the Council of European Union Foreign Ministers.

In the telephone conversation, the Croatian Foreign Minister outlined a report over EU foreign Ministers Council meeting stressing the EU's support for Iran in the fight against novel coronavirus and some of the decisions made at the meeting on removing financial barriers to Iran's actions in this anti-virus campaign.

US unilateral and inhuman sanctions have seriously hampered efforts to contain the deadly coronavirus in Iran.

The unilateral and cruel US sanctions, which include essential items, even pharmaceuticals, and medical supplies, have caused many problems for the Iranian people, especially for the patients diagnosed with COVID-19.

US President Donald Trump, however, said on Friday that he would oppose lifting sanctions on Iran.

The European Union and the European Troika (Germany, Britain and France) have pledged to maintain the deal after the US illegally withdrew from JCPOA, but so far have not succeeded in taking the practical steps they had previously promised to maintain the deal.
