The Border Guard Commander of Iran Brigadier General Qasem Rezaei (2nd L)

Sanandaj (IP) - The Border Guard Commander of Iran referred to the recent terrorist attacks on the country's eastern borders concurrent with Iran's elections, saying that Tehran expects Islamabad to arrest the terrorists and hand them over to the Iranian border guards.

Iran Press/Iran News: Speaking to reporters in Sanandaj on Monday, Brigadier General Qasem Rezaei said that Iran has established good relations with Pakistan, which some of their units are stationed in the border area, but terrorist operations are still continuing.

He said that while holding the elections, the police were protecting the process and guarding the borders and as a result, a terrorist attack was thwarted and casualties were inflicted on them, adding that during the operation, 2 of the country's border guards were martyred.

"Investigation indicated that the mercenaries were using new US-made equipment to carry out a terrorist attack on our country's border guards, which was recently delivered," said Rezaei.

Elsewhere, he stated that on the same day, one ship was seized in the Oman Sea by one million liters of smuggled fuel, one and a half tons of narcotics were seized in 6 parts of eastern Iran, and 6 tons of smuggled goods were seized in the Persian Gulf.

Earlier on 14 Feb, the Jaish al-Adl terrorist group targeted a bus carrying the Iranian Border Guard troops between the cities of Zahedan and Khash, a volatile area near the Pakistan border where armed groups and drug smugglers frequently operate.

27 members of Iran's elite Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were martyred and at least 10 other wounded in the terrorist group's attack.
