Tehran(IP): Speaking at a news conference on Sunday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that Iran has defeated US Maximum pressure policy.

Iran Press/ Iran News: At the beginning of the press conference, The President appreciated people’s massive attendance in 22 Bahman demonstrations and stated that the Iranian people have displayed exceptional resistance since 2018.

Answering a question regarding the Hormuz Peace Endeavour (HOPE) initiative, he said, "It is clear for the entire world that peace and stability in this region is impossible without a powerful and great country like Iran."

“We have always sought security in this region and General Soleimani was one of the commanders who sought stability and security in the Persian Gulf and the Middle East,” he said.

Rouhani continued, "The HOPE initiative was announced at the UN General Assembly and proposed to the Secretary General, all countries and regional states, and I officially sent the initiative to all regional leaders and we called on all of them to participate in it.”

The President said, "Some regional countries welcomed it well and some others have not still given an explicit response to us, but we still believe that it is the regional states that must help establish peace.”

“We stress that all countries must enjoy security and stability in the region,” said the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

"All indices show that the era of the United States’ maximum pressure has passed and sanctions will not have any fruits for the enemies and their calculations about Iran are wrong,” Iranian President Hassan Rouhani added.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani stated that if the US complies with the commitments of the JCPOA and lifts the sanctions on Iran, it will be able to start negotiating within 5+1 parties otherwise the negotiation is impossible.

In response to a question on the activation of the dispute resolution mechanism by the European parts to the JCPOA and the possibility of discussing the Iranian file at the Security Council, Rouhani said nothing will occur in the coming weeks.

He made the remark that the parties to the agreement did not comply with their obligations due to the US' withdrawal from the JCPOA and partly because of their inaction.

Regarding pending issues such as FATF and CFT, Rouhani expressed the hope that the next parliament arrangement to be more coordinated with the government in removing obstacles.

The President highlighted, “The government is to spare no efforts not to be reenlisted in the blacklist on financial affairs”, adding that regretfully it seems that we are paving the same path, but we hope not to be reenlisted.

Presently, “We have no broad banking cooperation with the world to create any problem for us but it will be very important for the future”, he said.

“Iran was among the blacklist but the eleventh government takes it out and presently North Korea is in the blacklist but we hope all officials to do their utmost to help resolve the issue’, Rouhani stated.

Elsewhere he noted, "People play an active presence in the Friday parliamentary elections as such maximum turnout will be to Iran's benefit and this will disappoint the US".

A sound elections campaign will bring more people to the ballot boxes, President Rouhani said.
