Tehran (IP) - Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zangeneh said if an early ministerial meeting was to be held, an agreement had to be reached prior to the meeting rather than discussing an agreement during the meeting.

Iran Press/Iran news: Iranian oil minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said on Saturday "We did not have any suggestion for the urgent OPEC meeting but we believe that it is important to have a good understanding before holding any urgent ministerial meeting of OPEC."

He said that Iran will participate in any urgent OPEC meeting but holding such a meeting without reaching a mutual understanding first is useless and will lead to a lowering of global oil prices.

Zanganeh made the remark on the sidelines of a signing ceremony for a contract for recycling improvement, production increase and utilization of Parsi and Paranj oilfields, held in Tehran on Saturday.
