Iran welcomes the election of a new Iraqi prime minister

Iran's Foreign Minister Spokesman said the Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes the election of Mohammad Tawfiq Allawi as its new Prime Minister in support of its independence, national sovereignty, territorial integrity and consolidation of the foundations of democracy in Iraq.

Iran PressIran news: As reported by the Center for Public and Media Diplomacy of Iran's Foreign Ministry on Sunday 2th February, Foreign Ministry spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi, referring to the election of a new Iraqi prime minister, expressed hope that "with the formation of a new government," Mohammad Tawfiq Allawi would be able to address right demands of people's and the supreme religious authority of Iraq to create a stable and important Iraq in the region.

Mousavi added: "Iran is ready to provide Iraq with all its means to overcome the problems and achieve high goals in the current critical situation facing the Iraqi government and nation."

Iraqi President Barham Salih yesterday Saturday, February 1th, two months after the resignation of Adel Abdul Mahdi and the disagreement among political groups, suggested Mohammad Tawfiq Allawi as the new prime minister from a list of politicians to form a new government cabinet.
