Haji Babaee: Determination of British Amb. status, is demanded by people

Tehran (IP) - The Iranian Lawmaker Hamid Reza Haji Babaee who represents Hamedan in Majlis said that the People of Iran have signed a petition asking for Parliament to determine the status of British Ambassador to Iran.

Iran Press/Iran News: Iranian Member of Parliament Hamid-Reza Haji Babaee explained further that parliament has passed the law and thereby Iran's Ministry of Foreign affairs is obliged to do the following within 2 weeks: to downgrade Iran's relations with the British embassy so that there will be charge d'affaires rather the ambassadors involved in.

Haji Babaiee's notifications came as more than 200 lawmakers released a statement to ask the government to determine the status of British Ambassador to Iran, Rob Macaire.

Macaire attended an illegal gathering in front of AmirKabir University in Tehran on Saturday 11 January following the crash of the Ukrainian passenger plane.

He was arrested by the police but was released shortly following contacts by the Iranian Foreign Ministry officials.

Macaire was later summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran for his unconventional conduct and the UK was officially informed of Iran's protest against his move.

According to the diplomatic protocols, every ambassador and diplomatic representatives can notify the host country and return to his country for any reason.
