President Rouhani welcomes expansion of Tehran-Muscat ties

Tehran (IP) - Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a congratulatory message to the new Sultan of Oman express his hope that Tehran-Muscat ties further deepen in all fields.

Iran Press/Iran News: President sent a message to the new Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq Al Said to offer him congratulations on his appointment and expressed hope that Tehran-Muscat ties would further deepen in all fields.

The message said: "With the best of greetings, I would like to offer Your Majesty congratulations on your appointment as the Sultan of Oman."

Iranian President noted to the fact that relations between Iran and the Sultanate of Oman during the time of the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said were founded on the basis of mutual trust express hope that relations between the two countries further deepen in new Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq Al Said.

President Rouhani wishes for I wish Sultan Haitham and people of Oman health, success, prosperity and felicity.

On Saturday, Oman has named Haitham bin Tariq Al Said as the country's new ruler following the death of his cousin Sultan Qaboos bin Saeed Al Saeed.

The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who has traveled to Muscat on behalf of the Iranian government to attend the commemoration ceremony of the late Sultan Qaboos, met with the new Omani Sultan, Haitham bin Tariq.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif offered his condolences over the death of late Sultan Qaboos, congratulated sultan Haitham bin Tariq for his new role and expressed the Islamic Republic's readiness to develop and deepen the friendly and long-standing relations between the two countries. 

Late Sultan of Oman Qaboos bin Said Al Said passed away late Friday 10 January, aged 79.
