Rouhani and Zelensky talk on the phone about plane crash developments

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in a phone conversation discussed the latest situation with regards to the Ukrainian passenger plane crash.

Iran Press/Iran News: The General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran on Saturday morning released a statement saying the Ukrainian passenger plane which crashed on Wednesday morning was targeted unintentionally by "friendly fire" in a tragic accident caused by human error.

In a statement on Saturday morning, President Hassan Rouhani pledged to identify and prosecute all those involved in an unintentional shooting down of the Ukrainian commercial plane over Tehran.

The Boeing 737-800 plane belonging to Ukraine International Airlines crashed near Tehran just minutes after the plane had taken-off from Imam Khomeini International Airport on Wednesday morning. All the 167 passengers and 9 crew members on board the plane were killed in this tragic incident.
