Answering a question raised by the Iran Press correspondent in a news conference on the sidelines of the 10th meeting of the board of governors of the Regional Centre on Urban Water Management known as RCUWM in Tehran, Reza Ardakanian referred to Iran's joint basins and border rivers with its neighboring countries and noted that Iran is unique in this regard.

Ardakanian said the existence of joint basins and border rivers is of great importance for Iran, noting that the country is unique in terms of joint basins and border rivers, in east and northeastern of the country.

He said that the Regional Centre on Urban Water Management (RCUWM) focuses on the cooperation over urban and rural water and sewage management within the country.

"Yet, when Iran's Ministery of Energy negotiates with its neighbors such as Afghanistan or Iraq, naturally the discussions in this regard will be extended to water management issues, to which the foreign ministry contributes", Ardakanian said.

He expressed hope that the Tehran-based Regional Centre on Urban Water Management  (RCUWM) can pave the ground for more exporting of technical and engineering services.
