Entangled in political and financial scandals at home, Israeli regime's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in Lisbon during which they discussed the Middle East and metastasizing economic terrorism against Iran.

Iran PressMiddle East: Following the meeting on Wednesday, US State Department said, Washington and Tel Aviv will increase their efforts to counter Iran's so-called "destabilizing influence" in the region, hinting at Tehran's support to the groups resisting Israel's occupation in Palestine and Lebanon and those fighting against Saudi-led military aggression in Yemen.

Netanyahu who is indicted in Israel for corruption charges rushed to meet Pompeo who was in Europe to take part in a NATO summit meeting in London and pushed him to increase Iran sanctions and speed up annexation of occupied Palestinian lands in the Jordan Valley, according to The New York Times.

Prior to the hasty 90-minutes meeting in Portugal's capital, Israeli prime minister said the meeting will focus on Iran.

The sunset politician has repeatedly praised US President Donald Trump for withdrawing from the internationally recognized nuclear deal with Iran and for re-imposition of unilateral sanctions against the Islamic Republic.
