Tehran, Baku agree on space cooperation talks

Iranian Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mohammad-Javad Azari Jahromi and Chief Executive of Azercosmos space agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan Rashad Nabiyev met on Wednesday during which they discussed the commencement of space ties.

The Iranian minister who is visiting Baku to take part in the Bakutel 2019 exhibition expressed Tehran's interest in establishing space ties with Baku in space areas including building of satellites.

He said Iran is in the middle of a 20-year plan to develop its space industry which is of strategic significance for the Islamic Republic.

Jahromi said Iranian Space Agency is ready to start cooperation with Azercosmos which was welcomed by the Azerbaijani official.

Nabiyev expressed his readiness to launch bilateral negotiations with his Iranian counterpart in Baku in the shortest possible time.

On the sidelines of the Bakutel event, the Iranian ICT minister has met Azeri President Ilham Aliyev and his Azeri counterpart Ramin Guluzadeh.
