Iranian president met with the people of a quake-hit village during his provincial tour to East Azerbaijan.

Iran Press/Iran news: President Hassan Rouhani met with the people of the quake-hit village of Dastjerd in Mianeh County, East Azerbaijan Province, and was briefed on the process of aid delivering to those affected by the earthquake.

During his visit on Wednesday morning, President Rouhani saw a number of temporary settlements and camps and met with the people living in the camps and sympathized with them, Iran Press reported. 

In the cordial atmosphere of the visit, the quake-hit people of Dastjerd village talked with the President regarding their urgent problems and needs.

The President was also briefed on the process of delivering aid and assistance to the people in these areas.

A 5.9 on the Richter scale earthquake shook the city of Tark and other places like Varankesh in the northwestern province of East Azerbaijan in the early hours of November 8, and claimed the lives of five people. The quake was also easily felt in other parts of northwest Iran including West Azerbaijan, Gilan, Zanjan and Ardabil provinces.
