Seyyed Abbas Mousavi

The Iranian foreign ministry spokesman has reacted to tweets and comments by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo who declared his support for rioters in Iran on Saturday.

Iran PressIran news: Speaking on Sunday night, foreign ministry spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi said that the Iranian people are well aware that this sort of disingenuous and dishonest remark does not carry any sympathy for the Iranian people.

Mousavi forthrightly condemned the meddling tweets and remarks by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and reminded that Donald Trump, after walking away from the landmark nuclear accord with Iran, has started a fully-fledged economic war and economic terrorism against Iran, threatening countries who want to trade and do business with Iran, Iran Press reported.

Mousavi referred to ill-intentions, malice, and spite of Trump administration officials particularly US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo towards Iran and the Iranian people, and said: "Just a few months ago Pompeo had said the Iranian people should go hungry so that their resistance is broken and they bow to the United States."

It is also worth noting that foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has strongly condemned the Trump administration for its unjustifiable and illegal economic war and economic terrorism against Iran, particularly US attempts to stop the import of food and medicines, and commercial aircraft spare parts into Iran.
