Iran slams Israeli strike on Gaza

Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi strongly condemned the Zionist regime's latest attack on the Gaza Strip.

Iran PressMiddle EastSeyyed Abbas Mousavi on Tuesday slammed the Zionist regime's attack on the Gaza strip which led to the martyrdom of a senior commander for the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement.

"Unfortunately, relying on the full support of the blood-thirsty and child-killer Zionist regime, the assassination of the Palestinian people and the Palestinian combatants has continued inside and outside the occupied territories," he said.

The Iranian diplomat also condemned the silence and passivism of the international bodies and organizations toward aggression of the Zionist regime.

He called on the regional and international bodies to fulfill their legal and humanitarian duties to stop the terrorist actions of the Zionist aggressors and to voice their full support to the defenseless and the oppressed people of Palestine.

In an early morning Israeli airstrike on Tuesday on eastern parts of the Gaza strip, two Palestinians were martyred, including a senior commander for the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement, and three others were wounded.

Abu al-Ata was a senior commander of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad in the Gaza Strip.

Israeli drones were flying over Gaza following the assassination.

The assassination is likely to fuel tensions between Tel Aviv and Gaza, which has been under a total blockade by Israel since 2007 and witnessed three wars since 2008.
