Iran Press/ Europe: He wrote in a twitter message, “The response of the UK government to the “Petition on the suspension of sanctions against Iran” does not address the real issue. People signing the Petition expect the government to disregard US sanctions and support Iran to mobilize all its resources to fight against coronavirus.”
In his earlier tweet on Tuesday, Baeidinejad said, “The British government in response to the petition to lift sanctions against Iran responded that limited UK human rights sanctions and export of special equipment for military use, did not have much of an effect on Iran's ability to counter Coronavirus.”
Hamid Baeidinejad then asked, "Is this the right answer for the people? The people's demand and their expectation are that the British government, in the context of its commitments to the JCPOA as well as universal human rights obligations, will support and guarantee the banking, financial and commercial institutions of the country by entering into legitimate interactions with the Iranian parties, ignoring the cruel US sanctions.”
Iran's ambassador to the UK then stated, ”Given the government's completely limited response, the Petitions Committee of the House of Commons which is overseen by 11 MPs independent from the government, is expected to pursue people’s demand seriously, and to encourage the government to address the people's demands, which is the suspension of sanctions.”
More than 14,000 people in Britain have already signed a petition calling for the immediate suspension of sanctions that have prevented Iran from controlling coronavirus. The signatories to the petition, published on the website of the British Parliament, have emphasized that the lifting of sanctions against Iran will be considered a humane act.
