Iran Press/Europe: Iranian Foreign Minister Mohamad Javad Zarif and Spanish Foreign Minister 'Arancha González Laya' discussed ways of boosting confidence and cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Europe on Saturday in Munich.
During the meeting which was held on the sidelines of Munich Security Conference, both sides reviewed Iran's reduction of commitments under the nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and the regional issues as well.
Developing bilateral relations, cooperation grounds between Iran and Europe, regional issues were among other topic discussed by both sides.
In May 2018, US President Donald Trump walked away from the landmark multilateral nuclear deal, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
Iran and the remaining parties launched talks to salvage JCPOA after the US withdrawal, but the three European parties to the deal (France, Britain, and Germany) have failed to ensure Iran’s economic interests.
The EU’s inaction forced Tehran to pull back from certain commitments under the nuclear deal, but Tehran says the steps that it has taken are reversible and will be fully committed to the JCPOA if the Europeans fully uphold their end of the bargain.
The Iranian government announced on 5 January the country's decision to take the final step to reduce commitments to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). Iran will no longer abide by limitations to the number of centrifuges it uses.
However, Iran's government stressed that Iran will continue with customary cooperation with the IAEA.
